Online Movement Sessions for Newcomers
Dates: Four sessions on Mondays and Thursdays: 24, 27, 31 January; 3 February, 2022 Time: 5.00 pm – 6.15 pm GMT (17:00 - 18:15 UTC) Maximum 12 people (For newcomers to Move into Life). This will be a closed group rather than a drop-in arrangement and the price is for all five sessions. Location: Zoom |
These sessions are offered for anyone who would like a chance to experience Move into Life work - perhaps you are not normally able to attend workshops because of time or distance, or perhaps you would like to prepare for one of the live workshops from February 2022 onwards.
Zoom offers a particular kind of inclusivity, whilst acknowledging that it is a completely different experience to sharing practice together in the same place.
A 4-session introduction to the basic principles and dynamics of Move into Life.
This is for people who have never worked with me before or who would like to refresh basics.
No experience necessary – just a willingness to explore your movement in many different ways and to be curious about your surroundings. Gradually we shall experience how one influences the other and the impact atmosphere on how we move through our daily life.
Areas of practice will include:

- Yawning, stretching and breathing to enliven the being
- Shaping of movement through the articulation of the joints
- Body as a constellation with many possible variations: eg lying, crawling , kneeling sitting, walking.
- Movement at different levels in space.
- Stillness through pausing, stopping, receiving without losing the flow of movement
- Choices of rhythm, direction and tone within the flow of movement
- Staying and going
- Proportion/Scale in gesture and motion
- Active/passive in movement – for example initiating and receiving
- Composition in context- with an awareness of self, place and others = constellation
- Moving with objects
