Body in Movement
Dates: Summer 2014 - to be announced
Location: Wootton Fitzpaine, West Dorset
Improvisation starts from everyday movements: walking, sitting, standing, crawling, lying down, in all sorts of different ways. In this workshop you are guided to become more aware of the structure of your body as it moves through space.
The central teaching of this workshop is that there is no movement without attitude and no attitude without movement:
"There is a clarity and simplicity in Sandra Reeve's teaching that enables even the most desk- and mind-bound of participants to leave behind any habitual sense of physical awkwardness and explore their body in space like a three-year old."
---------------
For most of us, our daily movement is something we never notice. Yet our bodies and our movement store memories and habits that affect and condition our whole lives.
This workshop gives you a chance to pay attention to the way you move and to identify ways you might move differently. In the process, you may uncover all sorts of forgotten and outdated beliefs, habits and memories. Then, through your movement you can learn to change these habits and unlock new possibilities
This practice cultivates an attitude of curiosity, generosity, and fun. The workshop is open to all, takes place indoors and needs no previous movement experience.
This is the first in the cycle of five Move into Life workshops. It’s the best introduction to see if you want to go on to try the Movement and Communication, Environmental Movement, or other workshops. You will be invited to explore:
Cost: £120 (excluding accommodation - see map below for local B&Bs and campsites.) Save £10 if you book and send your deposit before the early-bird closing date.

- The way we have learnt to move shapes our attitudes; changing the way we move changes our attitudes.

- Your body structure
- How you use the space
- How you move through the world and amongst other people
- What’s going on around and behind you
- How you follow or leave your ‘line of movement’
- Moments when you engage unnecessarily with pasts and futures
- Your capacity to anticipate
- How your movement affects others and the environment (and how they affect you and your movement)
Cost: £120 (excluding accommodation - see map below for local B&Bs and campsites.) Save £10 if you book and send your deposit before the early-bird closing date.
