Ecological Movement
|
Participant feedback:"the beauty of movement is that it bypasses the verbal, so let it be enough to say that working with Sandra invariably leaves me feeling energised and all of a piece. And it is fun!"
"Move Into Life makes me do just that. The practice enables me to experience thoughts, feelings and physical sensations more clearly. For me it is connected with freedom and joy; a way to realise what life is and can be like."

I use three different ‘lenses’ to explore an embodied sense of being ‘among’ rather than at the centre of the world. These ‘lenses’ are: Niche, Pattern and Emergence.
Looking at our movement through the lens of Niche, I will invite you to consider the conditions you choose; what you need to be comfortable with yourself, with others and with your environment; how you place yourself; your needs – for safety or excitement, for example. Looking through the lens of Pattern, I will invite you to consider your own movement habits and patters, body patterns, patterns of thinking and behaving – as well as recognising the larger patterns that we are part of and to which we are constantly adapting. Looking through the lens of Emergence, I will invite you to experience yourself bodily as a creative and ‘emerging’ or ‘becoming’ part of ‘the scheme of things’, rather than as an isolated individual or as someone whose character and ‘self’ is already fixed. |
Throughout the 5 days the intention is:
- To understand embodied attention and to notice what we notice.
- To explore niche, pattern and emergence through movement.
- To experience our surroundings as a 'world-in-motion', as a 'becoming-world' - not as a static environment.
- To begin from a sense of motion rather than stillness - this challenges any fixed sense of self and allows us to experience our different, multiple selves as constantly changing 'becoming-selves'.
- To situate our self/selves as an integral part of a broader set of physical, social, cultural and environmental systems.
- To integrate our movement practice into daily life and vice-versa.
- To crystallise our experience into a creative form, individually and in small groups.
Participant feedback:
"This is a beautiful workshop to explore the cultivation of wholeness. It gives time and space for the noticing and changing of deeply engrained patterns in an atmosphere of respect, mutuality and equal value to every movement, every plant, every animal and every other human."
