Bridging the Gap: Movement, Meditation and Mindfulness for Daily Life
URBAN RETREAT
facilitated by Barbara Collins and Sandra Reeve
26th (eve)– 31st July , 2017
An Tairseach, Dominican Farm & Ecology Centre, Wicklow, Ireland
This 5-day workshop is designed to introduce movement as ‘mindfulness in motion’, as a meditation practice in itself, and to explore the thresholds and transitions between sitting meditation, walking meditation, free-form movement practice and simple everyday activities.
We shall move between indoor and outdoor sessions, between time alone and time together, between nature and town, between periods of silence and quietness, stillness and movement as we explore how to integrate the source of meditation into our daily lives and into the busy stream of activities that fill our days. There will be opportunities to share our process or questions within the group. We begin with a shared evening meal and a short introductory session on the evening of 26th July and finish at 4.30pm on 31st July.
Move into Life is the core movement practice for this retreat. It teaches you the art of being in movement. This is movement pure and simple – NOT a particular way of moving, NOT a particular form or style. It requires no particular experience, skills or physical ability.
Explore the movements you make every day – shrugs and stretches… reaching out, putting down and holding on… twisting and leaning. Choose one, slow it down, find where it starts, follow it to see where it leads. This is the essence of Move into Life. It’s…
Like yoga without any positions
Like dance without any steps
Like walking without a destination
Like meditation without the stillness
Like autobiography without the words...
