What is a Workshop Like?

A Move into Life workshop is a gentle, but powerful, way of experiencing yourself differently and making changes. Come along and find how your movement changes with your mood, your health, state of mind, surroundings and other people.
Move into Life workshops help you become aware of how you move. This can shed light on all kinds of emotional patterns, on your relationships, your work-life balance or other daily concerns.
Move into Life is not performance or dance. It’s about daily movement: there’s no right way to lean against a wall and you won’t be taught one!
What will happen?
You will be invited to move in your own way, to be curious about your movement and you will be given clear guidelines to follow. The workshops are always stimulating, invigorating and fun.
Is it for me?
Adults of all ages come to Move into Life workshops. The introductory workshops always include some people who have never done any movement work or anything like this at all (some workshops in the annual cycle do need previous movement experience - see the listing for details).
As well as many people who are just doing Move into Life work to explore and understand their own movement, most workshops also attract people with a professional interest. These usually include:
Therapists (including drama therapists, art therapists, OTs, psychotherapists and others), teachers, performers (actors and dancers), nurses and others.
Because we are exploring daily movement, adults of all ages can work together comfortably. Equally, people with limited mobility and stamina often come on the same workshops as yoga teachers. There is no right and wrong way to "move into life" and an accountant and a professional dancer can both learn from each other and work well together at a Move into Life workshop.
What will I get out of it?
Feel how your habits and attitudes affect your life. Experiment with different ways of moving. Find new insights about yourself and new movement skills. You may find that walking differently changes the way you feel about your life. Really!
