The Move into Life Guiding & Witnessing Closed Group with Sandra ReeveWootton Fitzpaine, West Dorset ~ April - November 2024
In 2024 I am offering a closed group for experienced movers (maximum 12 people) to study and to research guiding and witnessing in movement. There will be two 5-day workshops and one 3-day workshop, so 13 days in total over 8 months as well as the requirement to practise a certain number of hours ‘guiding’ when you are at home and to bring those experiences back to the group. When I first came across Amerta Movement in 1987, I was struck by how Suprapto Suryodarmo (and those training with him at that time) would move with people to transmit bodily understanding, rather than try to explain or to give verbal instructions. I witnessed hours of moving bodies transforming their movement vocabulary in a way that seemed to last through this process of being guided through movement … (later called ‘gardening’ by Prapto). At the time it seemed to me the most obvious thing in the world that a body in movement would respond directly to stimuli given through the guide’s movement, if that movement paid attention to atmosphere and to context, was placed openly in the space and directed towards the mover. I have since spent many years learning more about this process by moving with others. During this course I would now like to focus on how to guide an individual (or a group) in movement to support their growth and blossoming. This can be done:
This course is by application only and open to movers with a sustained practice in Move into Life or Amerta Movement and who are interested in working with others, now or in the future. Training Modules
Cost: £900. Accommodation: To keep costs down, I have provisionally booked 2 cottages for this course. If you are interested in applying for a place, both on the course and in a shared or single room in a cottage, you must apply before 23rd October, 2023. After that date I need to let go of the cottages and you will be responsible for your own accommodation. A shared room in a shared cottage will reduce your expenses considerably to roughly the same cost as camping locally.
