SEASCAPES: Environmental Movement 

Dates: 10th-11th July, 2021

Location: Stonebarrow Hill and Charmouth beach,  West Dorset

This weekend workshop – working on the beach below Stonebarrow Hill – is an introduction to (or reminder of) the practice of moving in nature.

The workshop offers the opportunity to engage with your body-in-movement as one part of the choreography of movements surrounding you – the rhythm of the sea, the gusts of wind, the trickle of shingle, the impression in the sand, the flight of a bird, the fleeting gesture of a companion.

First giving time to receive where we are as we move, engaging all our senses, through place we shall become aware of our own condition, of our preferences and of our inner stories. We shall move in different habitats on the cliffs and along the shore line, appreciating both the details and the expanse, the cliffs and the horizon.

Finally, here, on the Jurassic Coast, through the sound of the waves, the sea and the tides we shall practise being-in-time with what is occurring around us and being aware of our movement making marks in Time.
