IMMERSION: Environmental Movement Workshop 

Dates: 1st-3rd April, 2022

Location: Stonebarrow Hill and Charmouth beach,  West Dorset

This 3-day environmental movement workshop introduces the skills of being/becoming viscerally aware of our own movements as part of the natural movements around us.

Your body-in-movement is one part of the choreography of movements surrounding you – the rhythm of the sea, the gusts of wind, the unfurling of a fern, the swaying branches, the fleeting gesture of a companion.

Gradually we can be comfortable on the shifting threshold between our inner world and our surroundings, both immersed in and aware of where and how we are.

Sometimes I need to let go a little more, sometimes I need to tighten the reins a little so that I can both ride and drive my movement through changing weathers and terrains.

This is the study of ‘constellation’ and offers the experience of ‘being part of’ or ‘belonging’ through movement.

We will work outdoors in different places, according to the composition of the group:  hills, woods, cliffs, valleys and by the sea, finding our own expression without ignoring the expression of the life around us. 

I shall offer movement tasks as practical stimuli to support the development of your own unique movement style. We may work at night. We shall practise being-in-time with what is occurring around us and being aware of our movement making marks in Time.

A certain degree of mobility is necessary to engage with the varied terrains for these outdoor workshops. Please contact me if you have any doubts.

Cost (excluding accommodation): £165 (3 days)

Accommodation:  Due to shifting Coronavirus regulations, please book your own accommodation.  If you would like to share a self-catering cottage with other participants let me know in good time and I can put you in touch with each other and offer suggestions.
