February 2019 - two workshops in Java and Bali
with Prapto and Ajahn Jutindharo
Borobudur Moving Life
with Prapto and Ajahn Jutindharo in Java and Bali
1st-14th February, 2019
Workshop
The Buddha statues at Borobudur are all sitting in the window frames or in the stupa. Can you imagine if all 504 Buddhas were moving as well as sitting without losing their condition of ‘empty axis’? Borobudur would be Moving Life.
We shall practice waking up our own buddha, inspired by the mudras of Borobodur. The practice of Joged Amerta will support us as we find our moving/dancing being with many buddhas at Borobudur.
This is an opportunity to travel to Java and Bali and to work with Prapto and Ajahn Jutindharo, a monk practising in the Theravada tradition, based in the UK who for several years has been studying movement extensively through the lens of the Dhamma alongside Sandra Reeve and Suprapto Suryodarmo.
Draft Schedule
1-5 Feb: Borobudur Temple: one of the greatest houses of Buddha in the world in Central Java with 504 statues of Buddha .
6 Feb: Flight to Bali: Yogya airport to Denpasar.
7 Feb: Day off
8-14 Feb: Practice in Teja Amerta Temple, Tejakula, North Bali

The Tree of Life, Song of Ancestor: the Art of Moving in Sacred Sites
with Prapto and Ajahn Jutindharo in Bali
16th - 24th February, 2019
Goa Gajah and Samuan Tiga in Bedulu, Bali, Indonesia
This 9-day workshop with Prapto will be working with ancestor, temple, nature, garden, ritual and performance. It will be based in temples in Bedulu (Goa Gaja and Samuan Tiga), and the work will connect with Avebury UK, where Prapto has practised with movement groups over many years, in the stone circle and at other nearby ancient sites.
These devotional places, rooted in the landscape, have been shaped over centuries by time, wind and water, and by people of different religions.
They are like gardens where nature, human, ancestor meet, and they connect with sacred sites all over the world – it is not necessary for participants to have been to either Avebury or Bali before.
Accommodation: Participants cover their own lodgings, meals, and local transportation costs (sometimes shared transport).
Prapto will be staying at the Nuaja home in the village of Bedulu, close to the Samuan Tiga temple. If you would like to reserve a room there or in a nearby homestay in Bedulu, Prapto is happy to help you reserve one.
Bedulu is about a 90-minute drive from Bali International Airport at Dempasar or a 10 minute drive from Ubud.
Cost: Between €495 and €540 for 9 days (5 hours' practice per day)
Both workshops will be organised by Padepokan Lemah Putih but for now if you have any questions or would like to register your interest, please email [email protected]
