Within the tradition of Joged Amerta Movement I have learnt how to move with people as a way of guiding them...
... to enter their own movement more fully
... to support them to explore a new range of movement
... to discover a new relationship to time or to environmental space with the accompanying perceptual shift.
I call this ‘guiding through movement’. It involves being present, listening to and receiving the other through all the senses as they move within the environment... and adapting to and attuning to the other in a constant condition of alertness.
Perhaps, above all, I am moving from my own story or inner landscape and from that place I am engaging in a movement dialogue with the other, in a way that may be useful for them.
Sometimes that is a direct encounter but more often I am simply alongside the other person, sharing time and space, and they are more involved in their own movement in the environment than in paying any attention to me.
I have found ‘moving with’ to be an effective way of teaching movement, as well as witnessing movers and encouraging their development through clear verbal directions or creating a soundscape and putting small movements into the space to guide movers as I sit at the side of a room.
I plan to share some of my approach over this weekend, with the possibility of creating a sequence of weekends for a closed group in the winter 2018 /spring 2019. You do need to have some experience of Move into Life or Amerta Movement to be able to participate fully in this workshop.
For this workshop there will be a maximum of 8 people. Cost: £130 for the weekend (excluding accommodation).
Closing date for bookings: 11th May, 2018. Please phone if you have any questions: 01297 560511
