What is Move into Life?
Sandra Reeve - Move into Life
It’s movement pure and simple – NOT a particular way of moving, NOT a particular form or style.
Explore the movements you make every day – shrugs and stretches… reaching out, putting down and holding on… twisting and leaning. Choose one, slow it down, find where it starts, follow it to see where it leads. This is the essence of Move into Life. It’s…
Like yoga without any positions
Like dance without any steps
Like walking without a destination
Like meditation without the stillness
Like autobiography without the words...
Move into Life is a way of:
Exploring how we are in relationship, in nature, in our bodies
Enquiring into our experience of life
Identifying the habits and patterns that define our lives
Making new choices about how we live.
Move into Life is a practice you can dip into or make a part of daily life. It soon becomes a way into understanding yourself differently.
I can find how to ‘follow my line’ in movement, that is to say a sequence of physical sensations in my body.
I can learn how my embodied perception can surf the wave between my inner life and the outer environment, alive to myself, alive to the environment and alive to others.
I can learn about my movement patterns in communication with others. I can play with change, and study the response when I put a different quality of movement in the space.
I can reconnect with the movements all around me in nature by realising that my movement sequences are part of the symphony, and not separate from it. I can learn to listen through the body, to gently rekindle the instinctive, kinaesthetic sense.
I can be constantly amazed by how precisely the body reveals me to myself and I can delight in finding my own way of moving through all these different modes.
Movement is simultaneously a way of cultivating awareness and a direct expression of how I am in that moment. It is creative, versatile, fun, unique to each person.
