The Gesture of Presence
This workshop is jointly led by Sandra Reeve and Suvaco Bhikkhu (from Hartridge Buddhist Monastery)
Dates: to be announced
Location: Wootton Fitzpaine, West Dorset
This workshop is designed to cultivate presence in our bodies, in the moment, in our surroundings, with others and with what is. It is a useful workshop for those interested in movement as contemplation and meditation.
The Gesture of Presence explores and encourages a sense of being present in walking, crawling, sitting, rolling, swinging, lying down, in all the shapes of the moving body. How can we be relaxed and spontaneous, awake and receptive?
We will pay attention to our stillness in movement and to our movement when we are still and we will explore what it feels like to be present in our bodies, in our surroundings, with others and with what is happening at any given moment.
Alongside Sandra's movement training, Suvaco will centre his teaching and meditation practice around bodily presence and stillness within movement.
This workshop is designed for anyone interested in movement as insight, as contemplation and as meditation. No previous movement or meditation experience is necessary and the workshop is open to all.
Suvaco Bhikku is a contemplative Buddhist monk, a psychotherapist and a passionate advocate of embodiment and a full relation to life in all its forms.
Dr. Sandra Reeve is a movement teacher, artist and psychotherapist specialising in arts and ecology, who has trained with Suprapto Suryodarmo (Amerta Movement) since 1988.
Cost: £130 for the weekend (excluding accommodation). Concessions available.
